Summary:

The successful candidate will be mentored to progress into the President’s role in a few years time. Initially, reporting to the President, the Electrical Power Utilities Executive will have full responsibility for the engineering & operation of our Client’s Electrical Power Utilities Company. You will provide strategic direction and leadership to the President & CEO in planning and directing departmental goals, objectives and programs relating to engineering, operations, health, safety and environment programs, policies, procedures and capital. You will perform at the Senior Management level as a member of the Management Committee in developing and directing corporate goals, financial and business plans, and strategies to ensure the effective planning and delivery of programs. Responsible for the supervision of three senior level managers. Travel required.

Description:
• Establishes objectives and formulates or approves policies and programs for the Operations, Engineering and Health, Safety & Environment departments
• Provides direction and leadership to the Directors of Operations and Engineering and the Manager, Health, Safety & Environment in organizing and coordinating the development and delivery of central planning activities, capital projects and operations support to meet power generation, transmission and distribution needs
• Coordinates the development and implementation of short and long term strategies, budgets, work plans, policies and procedures to ensure efficient and cost effective programs and services
• Provides direction and leadership in all human resource areas
• Oversees the development and monitoring of corporate Engineering guidelines and standards for plant construction, operation and maintenance of generation, transmission and distribution systems

Qualifications: Qualifications:

• A university degree or college diploma in engineering, business administration, commerce or other discipline related to an electrical utility with several years of experience in a leadership role in an electrical utility. P.Eng an asset.
• High level Senior Management experience. Solid management track record with specific accomplishments in directing capital engineering design and construction, and strategic planning.
• Experience working with Boards and the public. Experience in political situations an asset.
• A high level of understanding of current engineering principles and trends in the electric utility industry.
• Excellent managerial and team building skills.
• Knowledge of administrative and financial planning procedures to coordinate activities and to develop, implement and monitor program plans, capital and operating budgets.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation and communication skills.
• Good analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
